What is a play reading?
A play reading is an informal performance where actors read the script aloud, allowing the audience to experience the story, characters, and humour in its rawest form. It’s a chance to hear a new play come to life for the first time.
Who can attend?
Everyone. (Adults only please)
Whether you are:
An actor, writer, theatre lover, someone curious about community theatre, or someone who simply enjoys a good story, you are warmly welcome.
You may choose to:
Take part in the reading or simply sit back and listen.
There is no pressure, no experience required, and no expectations — just community, creativity, and connection.
About the play
Mabel & Alice – Cash is a fast-paced, character-driven comedy full of sharp dialogue, absurd situations, and heart. Note:- that this play contains language and suggestions not suitable for anyone under 18 years of age. This reading is the first public step in bringing the play to the stage later in the year.
Why attend?
Because theatre begins with people in a room, sharing words and imagination.
Because new stories deserve new voices.
Because community theatre belongs to everyone.
No booking required
Just turn up on the day, bring a friend if you like, and be part of something new.
Each year, we present a mix of productions for all tastes and experience levels. Whether you’re drawn to the stage, the script, or behind the scenes, there’s a place for you here. Follow us on Facebook to stay in the loop!
